Netherlands visa appointment in the UK: VFS Global in four cities

A traveller smiling at a phone in the city

VisaBot is independent of VFS Global, the Netherlands embassy and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs; the Dutch authorities alone decide each Netherlands visa.

Four VFS Global centres take Netherlands visa applications in the UK: London, Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh. VisaBot watches the VFS calendar and waitlist for your city and category. Notifications alerts you when a Netherlands date opens, and AutoBooking books it in each applicant's name. The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs decides the visa.

Calendar, waitlist, booking: what VisaBot does for the Netherlands

VFS Global gives out Netherlands appointments through its booking calendar and, when dates run out and capacity allows, a free online waitlist that e-mails a time-limited booking link once a place comes up. VisaBot works with both.

  1. 1

Choose a city and a category

The bot watches one exact pair of city and category, and that pair decides which Netherlands dates reach you.

  2. 2

Notifications: an alert, then you book

A push alert, or an e-mail if you switch it on, arrives when Netherlands dates or the waitlist open for your city and category; you then book or join on the VFS site.

  3. 3

AutoBooking: the bot books for you

The bot books in each applicant's own name through the official VFS Global system, waitlist places included, so nobody needs to be online.

  4. 4

No date window on this route

AutoBooking for the Netherlands has no preferred-date setting, so the bot takes the first date VFS offers your group, and a booked date can't be swapped.

VisaBot cannot open dates that VFS Global has not released, move anyone up the waitlist or choose the date VFS gives you.

London, Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh: the four Netherlands centres

The Dutch government lists all four centres for UK residents with no regional districts, and each takes the same four categories. Applicants, children included, normally attend in person.

London โ€” VFS Global

66 Wilson Street, London EC2A 2BT. Applications and biometrics are taken here; passports can be collected after the decision.

Birmingham โ€” VFS Global

2nd Floor, 5โ€“14 South Road, Smethwick B67 7BN, where VFS Global's joint centre moved in July 2026. VisaBot covers the Netherlands and Estonia here.

Manchester โ€” VFS Global

50 Devonshire Street North, Manchester M12 6JH. Documents are handed in and fingerprints taken here, as at every Netherlands centre.

Edinburgh โ€” VFS Global

1 Rennie's Isle, Leith, Edinburgh EH6 6QT. Documents and biometrics are taken in person, and the centre has no car park.

Wales has no Netherlands centre, so from Cardiff the nearest are Birmingham and London.

The four Netherlands categories at VFS, and the cost of a wrong pick

VisaBot watches a single category at a single centre, and VFS Global holds each application to the booked category: pick the wrong one and the centre turns you away, keeping its service fee.

Tourism
Holidays, city breaks and sightseeing, with no host as the reason for the trip.
Business
Meetings, trade fairs, conferences and official visits.
Family and Friends Visit / EU / EEA family
Visiting relatives or friends, or travelling as the family member of an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen.
Others (Except Tourism and Family and Friends Visit / EU / EEA family)
Remaining short-stay purposes, such as a course, an event, medical treatment or a seafarer's trip.
  • Booking Tourism for what is really a family visit: the Dutch checklists differ, and VFS holds you to the booked category.
  • Choosing Others for a business trip, misled by its long name, when Business has its own category.
  • Booking any of the four for a stay over 90 days; these categories are for short stays, and a long-stay MVV is arranged separately.

Group size, city, category: setting up the Netherlands search

  1. 1

A centre the whole group can reach

Applicants, babies and children included, normally attend in person, so choose the city everyone can get to on the day.

  2. 2

Up to five applicants, two in Birmingham

Notifications covers the whole application. AutoBooking takes up to five applicants per subscription in London, Manchester and Edinburgh, two in Birmingham.

  3. 3

Details in, no photos or selfies

AutoBooking starts once each applicant's passport and personal details are in. On this route it needs no preferred dates, passport photo, selfie or face scan.

  4. 4

    Payment in two stages

AutoBooking on VFS Global routes is paid per applicant: a prepayment on subscribing, which covers the centre's booking fee, and the balance after booking.

Waitlist days, appointment day, decision day: Netherlands timing

VFS Global says there is no fixed schedule for new Netherlands dates, and VisaBot sees no pattern to predict. How soon one reaches you depends on the city, the category, the season and the group. A date with room for five is rarer than one for a single applicant, and quiet spells of several days are normal.

An appointment is not a visa. After it, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs takes 25 calendar days on average to decide, and up to 45 at busy times or when more checks are needed. You can apply up to six months before travel, nine for seafarers, and no later than 15 days before departure.

Scarce Netherlands dates are not a reason to apply elsewhere. Applications lodged with any Schengen country other than that of your main travel purpose are rejected, the Dutch government warns, and a slow appointment is no ground for applying outside the UK.

When the Netherlands is the right application, and who decides it

Main purpose of travel
Apply to the Netherlands when your main reason for travel is there; with the same purpose in several countries, the longest stay decides, then the first entry.
Who applies in the UK
UK residents with a residence permit or eVisa valid at least a month after leaving Schengen. British passport holders need no visa.
Where to apply
VFS Global in the four cities; diplomatic and official passport holders apply at the Netherlands embassy in London.
Appointments
Online at VFS Global, one per person, attended in person. Orange Carpet applicants can apply without one.
Fees
A visa fee plus VFS Global's service fee; children under six and some other groups pay no visa fee. Amounts are on the official fee pages.
Decision
The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs; VFS Global has no say in the outcome.

No forms, no waitlist jumps, no say in the decision

  • VisaBot does not fill in the Netherlands application form, check documents or attend the appointment.
  • VisaBot does not resell or hold appointments: each is booked in the applicant's own name through VFS Global's official system.
  • VisaBot gives no guarantee of a date before your trip, and a booked appointment does not make a visa more likely.

VisaBot is operated by TREVOR PHILIPS LTD, registered in England and Wales, company number 14986978, and is not affiliated with VFS Global, any embassy, consulate or government body.

Questions before you chase a Netherlands date

Which UK city should I book for a Netherlands visa appointment?

Any of the four VFS Global centres: London, Birmingham, Manchester or Edinburgh. The Dutch government lists them for all UK residents with no regional districts, so pick the one your whole group can reach, as applicants normally attend in person. From Cardiff, the nearest are Birmingham and London.

Should I book Tourism, Business, Family or Others for the Netherlands?

Book by the main purpose of your trip: Tourism for a holiday, Business for meetings and events, Family and Friends Visit / EU / EEA family for relatives, friends or EU family trips, and Others for the rest. VFS Global turns away applications under the wrong category; VisaBot support can change it on a subscription.

What can I do if there are no Netherlands visa appointments in the UK?

Join the free VFS Global waitlist when it is open, or let VisaBot watch for you: it checks for the whole 30-day subscription, alerts you when dates or the waitlist open, and on AutoBooking books in your name. Applying through another Schengen country instead would be rejected if the Netherlands is your main travel purpose.

How many people can one VisaBot subscription cover for the Netherlands?

One Notifications subscription covers every applicant in an application. AutoBooking takes up to five applicants per subscription in London, Manchester and Edinburgh and up to two in Birmingham, paid per applicant. VFS Global books a separate appointment for each person, so the bot needs a date with room for the whole group.

How is VisaBot different from refreshing the VFS Netherlands page myself?

The calendar and the waitlist are the same; the difference is who watches. VFS Global says new Netherlands dates follow no fixed schedule, so checking by hand means checking all day. VisaBot checks continuously, alerts you once dates or the waitlist open for your city and category, and on AutoBooking books without waiting for you.

Does VisaBot work with the VFS waitlist for the Netherlands?

Yes. Both Notifications and AutoBooking support waitlist routes, including the Netherlands at VFS Global in the UK. The VFS waitlist is free, fills places in sign-up order and e-mails a booking link that expires after a set time; on AutoBooking, those e-mails and VFS codes reach VisaBot's system mailbox, so the bot can act in time.

How much does VisaBot cost for a Netherlands appointment?

Notifications cost from ยฃ35 a month, and one subscription covers every applicant on it. AutoBooking costs from ยฃ100 per applicant; the final amount depends on the visa centre's fee.
