Germany visa appointment in the UK: London, Manchester, Edinburgh

VisaBot is not affiliated with TLScontact, the German Embassy or the Consulate General in Edinburgh, and decisions on German visas belong to the German missions alone.
German short-stay visas in the UK go through TLScontact in London, Manchester and Edinburgh, and most tourist, family and business applicants get their appointment from its waiting list rather than a calendar. VisaBot has no Germany route from the UK. The German Embassy in London or the Consulate General in Edinburgh decides each visa.
VisaBot reviews on Trustpilot
Signed up with VisaBot after I couldnโt book an appointment at vfs London. Took VisaBot just over a week. Fantastic service ๐
Germany from the UK: a queue you join yourself, not a VisaBot route
Germany is absent from every VisaBot city in the UK: London, Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Manchester.
- 1
No Germany plan to buy
Neither Notifications nor AutoBooking covers Germany from any UK city, and VisaBot takes no payment for this route.
- 2
Short trips wait in a queue
Tourism and family-visit applicants join a TLScontact queue at all three centres, as do medical and business trips in London and Manchester; slots are allocated in turn.
- 3
Your part: join early, pay fast
Sign up on TLScontact's Germany site once your dates are known, up to six months ahead, and pay the service fee within the deadline in the allocation email.

Where VisaBot does work
From the UK, VisaBot covers other Schengen countries at VFS Global and BLS International centres, including Austria, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and Switzerland.
From waiting list to decision, every step of a German application runs through TLScontact and the German missions, without VisaBot.
Three TLScontact centres, two consular districts
Your home address picks the centre: the German Embassy in London covers England, Wales and Northern Ireland, while the Consulate General in Edinburgh covers Scotland.
Ram Quarter, 18 Ryeland Boulevard, Wandsworth, London SW18 1UN. Takes German visa applications and fingerprints from residents of England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
1 Portland Street, Manchester M1 3BE. Serves the same district as London, taking German visa applications from UK residents outside Scotland.
Argyle House, 3 Lady Lawson Street, Edinburgh EH3 9DR. Takes German visa applications from people living in Scotland, for the Consulate General in Edinburgh.
Outside Scotland, choose London or Manchester by travel time: both centres feed the same Embassy district.
Choosing the TLScontact category for a German short stay
Each queued category keeps its own waiting list, and a wrong category gets the applicant turned away at the centre.
Tourism- Sightseeing, touring, and trade fairs or church events attended as a visitor; queued at all three centres.
Medical treatment- Planned treatment in Germany, backed by a clinic or doctor's letter; queued in London and Manchester.
Family/friends visit- Stays with relatives or friends, backed by the host's invitation letter; queued at all three centres.
Business- Meetings with a German company that sends a formal, signed invitation; queued in London and Manchester.
Organised school or student trip- School or university group trips; since August 2026, pupils on a school-certified list of travellers may not need a visa.
Family members of German nationals- Spouses and minor children of German citizens; booked as a normal appointment, outside the waiting list.
Family members of EU/EEA nationals- Spouses, children or parents travelling with an EU or EEA citizen; also booked outside the waiting list.
- Filing a trade fair or church event under Business: the Embassy lists both as Tourism.
- Spouses or children of German citizens choosing the EU/EEA family category: the Embassy sends them to the category for family of German nationals.
- Joining the queue with details that differ from the passport: the Embassy cancels the allocated appointment, and the applicant starts the waiting list again.
From waiting list to passport: what the German missions say about timing
The German missions publish no waiting times for the TLScontact queues: each list moves with the number of applicants in its category, and the Embassy will not answer emails about it.
The appointment is not the visa. The legal processing clock starts once the application is filed, biometrics are taken and the visa fee is paid; a Schengen decision then usually takes about 15 working days, plus 2 to 3 working days to return the passport.
German Schengen visas can be applied for up to six months ahead, and the Embassy advises against spending on the trip before the visa is issued. Incomplete files and cases needing another German authority take longer, and a complete file still does not guarantee a visa.

German short-stay rules for UK residents, in brief
- Main destination
- Germany must be the sole or main destination by length or purpose of stay; with no main one, the first Schengen country you enter.
- Who applies here
- UK residents who need a Schengen visa; the UK residence permit must stay valid for at least one month after the trip ends.
- Operator
- TLScontact handles every short-stay (C) and airport transit (A) application for the German missions in the UK, via its own website.
- Fees
- A visa fee and TLScontact's service fee, with amounts on the official pages; the Embassy charges no booking fee and says no agency is needed.
- In person
- Each applicant needs a separate appointment and must attend in person, children included.
- Who decides
- The German Embassy in London, or the Consulate General in Edinburgh for Scottish residents; TLScontact does not decide.
What VisaBot cannot do for a German visa
- VisaBot does not watch German appointments from any UK city and sells no Germany subscription.
- VisaBot cannot sign you up for the TLScontact queue, improve your place in it or pay for and confirm an allocated slot on your behalf.
- VisaBot does not fill in the VIDEX form, check German visa documents or speak to the Embassy for you.
- VisaBot does not sell or hold visa appointments and has no influence on whether Germany grants a visa.
VisaBot is operated by TREVOR PHILIPS LTD, a company in England and Wales (Companies House no. 14986978). VisaBot is not affiliated with TLScontact, VFS Global, BLS International, the German Embassy in London or the Consulate General in Edinburgh.
Getting a German visa appointment in the UK: FAQ
Which UK centre do I use for a Germany visa appointment?
Your home address decides, not appointment availability. Scottish residents apply at TLScontact in Edinburgh, for the German Consulate General. Residents of England, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands and Gibraltar use London or Manchester, with files going to the German Embassy in London.
How does the TLScontact waiting list for German visas work?
You sign up on TLScontact's Germany site, choose a centre and category and enter your application details. Once validated, you join a first-come, first-served queue. An email announces the allocated appointment; in London and Manchester you then have 12 hours to pay the service fee and confirm it.
Which category should I choose for a short trip to Germany?
Pick the category matching the trip's main purpose, because TLScontact turns away applicants booked in the wrong one. Holidays, plus trade fairs or church events attended as a visitor, are Tourism; stays with relatives or friends are Family/friends visit; company meetings are Business. Spouses and children of German citizens have their own category.
What can I do if there are no Germany visa appointments in the UK?
Join the right TLScontact waiting list early, up to six months before travel, because most short-stay appointments come from a queue, not a calendar. Keep your details identical to your passport and watch your inbox. Another consulate is an option when your real itinerary makes that country the main destination, not because it has dates.
Can one appointment or one subscription cover my whole family for Germany?
No. The German missions require a separate appointment for every applicant, so a family of four needs four, and children attend with both parents. VisaBot has no Germany subscription from the UK; on its other routes, one Notifications subscription covers every traveller in the same application.
Is VisaBot better than refreshing the TLScontact Germany site myself?
Not for Germany: VisaBot does not cover the route from the UK, and in London and Manchester most short-stay appointments arrive by email from the TLScontact queue, so refreshing changes nothing. On routes VisaBot covers, the bot constantly scans the centre's calendar and sends a push alert when a date opens.
Does VFS Global handle German visas in the UK?
No. The German Embassy in London names TLScontact as its external service provider, so every Schengen (C) and airport transit (A) application in the UK goes to TLScontact in London, Manchester or Edinburgh. VFS Global runs UK centres for other countries, such as Austria, Italy and the Netherlands.
Do I need a visa for Germany if I live in the UK?
Your passport decides, not your UK residence status. British citizens visit Germany visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180. Other nationalities who need a Schengen visa still need one while living in the UK: a BRP, eVisa or share code lets them apply here but does not exempt them.
