One subscription follows one centre and one category. Family Reunification, Researcher and Short Stay applicants should watch Abu Dhabi, where VisaBot offers those categories.
Short trip or residence permit: choosing the Hungary category
Each subscription follows one category, so dates in another Hungary category will not reach you; support can switch a wrong choice.
Tourist- Short Schengen tourist trip of up to 90 days, staying at a hotel or with a host. Both cities.
Short Stay- Abu Dhabi centre: a short-stay appointment type listed apart from Tourist, for trips of up to 90 days.
Business- Short business trip with an invitation letter from the host company in Hungary. Both cities.
Study- D-type permit for a course in Hungary; lodged no earlier than three months before it starts.
Employment- D-type residence permit for a job in Hungary. Both cities.
White Card- D-type permit that VFS Global lists for digital nomads. Both cities.
Family Reunification- Abu Dhabi centre: D-type permit to join a family member living in Hungary.
Researcher- Abu Dhabi centre: D-type permit for a research post in Hungary.
Other- Both cities: a general appointment type; check with VFS Global that it fits your purpose first.
- Booking Tourist for a long stay or a job: VFS Global says short-stay visas do not suit stays over three months or employment.
- Watching Dubai for Family Reunification or Researcher: VisaBot offers both in Abu Dhabi.

How fast a Hungary date can come, and why the visa takes longer
VFS Global releases Hungary dates with no known pattern, and VisaBot cannot see the next release in advance. Dates do not open every day, so a first alert can take several days.
Settings change the odds: a narrow date range, a big group or a category offered at a single centre leaves fewer fitting dates, and AutoBooking skips dates that cannot take every applicant.
An appointment is not a visa. VFS Global sends Hungary files to the Embassy the next working day; a short-stay decision takes at least 15 calendar days, per VFS Global, and up to 45 in individual cases, per the Hungarian foreign ministry. For D-type permits, VFS Global gives two weeks to six months.

Hungary rules to check before you book a VFS date in the UAE
- Main destination
- Hungary, if it is the trip's purpose or longest stay; with equal stays, the first Schengen country you enter.
- Who applies in the UAE
- UAE residence visa holders; passport and residence visa valid 3 months beyond your return from Hungary.
- Emirati passport holders
- No Schengen visa needed for stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period.

- VFS Global, Dubai or Abu Dhabi: book online, lodge in person, fingerprints unless given in the last 59 months.
- When to apply
- Short trips: six months to 15 days before travel. Study: no earlier than three months before the course.
- Fees and decision
- Visa fee plus VFS Global service fee, listed by VFS; visa decisions rest with the Embassy of Hungary in Abu Dhabi.
Family members of EU, EEA or Swiss citizens travelling with or visiting them pay no visa fee and, per the Hungarian foreign ministry, may lodge directly at the consulate.

Should I book my Hungary visa appointment in Dubai or Abu Dhabi?
Book where your category exists and where you can get to quickly. Abu Dhabi offers all nine Hungary categories in VisaBot, including Family Reunification, Researcher and Short Stay; Dubai offers six. Both centres serve the same Embassy, and a second subscription lets VisaBot watch the other one.
Which Hungary category should I choose for work, study or the White Card?
Pick the category named after your purpose: Employment for a job, Study for a course, White Card for remote work as a digital nomad. All three are D-type residence permits at VFS Global in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, while Tourist and Business cover trips of up to 90 days. VisaBot watches the category you choose and no other.
VFS shows no Hungary appointments in the UAE. What can I do?

Can I apply for a Hungary visa in the UAE without a residence visa?
Usually not. The Hungarian foreign ministry asks you to apply where you hold a residence permit for stays over three months, such as a UAE residence visa. A visitor staying legally may be accepted for a sound reason, at the consulate's discretion. VFS Global wants the UAE residence permit valid three months beyond your return.
