Germany visa appointment in Dubai and Abu Dhabi: VFS Global

A traveller framing a shot with a camera

VisaBot works independently of VFS Global and the German missions in the UAE, and the decision on your visa belongs to the German Consulate General in Dubai.

Germany visa appointments for short stays, study and the Opportunity Card are booked in the UAE with VFS Global, at Wafi Mall in Dubai or The Mall at the World Trade Centre in Abu Dhabi; Short Stay and Business dates go through a VFS waitlist. VisaBot follows your Germany category, sends an alert or, with AutoBooking, secures the date for each applicant. The German Consulate General in Dubai decides on the visa.

Only with the help of the Bot I was able to book an appointment and apply for a visa in Abu Dhabi! Very useful tool with frequent updates if you don't have time to log in and check for a new slot every half an hour!

How VisaBot works around Germany's VFS waitlist in the UAE

AutoBooking covers all four Germany categories in both cities, with a date window on the two CSP ones.

  1. 1

    Your centre and category

Dubai or Abu Dhabi (for a Schengen visa, the one serving your emirate), then one of the four Germany categories.

  2. 2

    Waitlist or open calendar

Short Stay and Business go through the VFS Global waitlist, the CSP categories through the regular calendar. VisaBot handles both.

  3. 3

    Notifications: you book it

A push in the VisaBot app, or an optional email, says a Germany date has appeared; you then book it with VFS Global.

  4. 4

    AutoBooking: booked in your names

The bot books every applicant under their own name, with a per-person prepayment at sign-up for the centre fee and the rest after booking.

VisaBot cannot move anyone up the VFS Global waitlist, release dates the Consulate General has not opened or swap a date AutoBooking has already booked.

Dubai or Abu Dhabi: the Germany centre is set by where you live

Both centres take the same four Germany categories and send every file to the Consulate General in Dubai.

Dubai — VFS Global

Visa Application Centre, Wafi Mall, First Floor, Phase 5 (Horus), Umm Hurrair 2, Dubai. Serves Schengen applicants who live in Dubai or the Northern Emirates.

Abu Dhabi — VFS Global

Visa Application Centre, Level B2 (Lower Ground), The Mall, World Trade Centre, Khalifa Bin Zayed The 1st Street. Serves Schengen applicants from Al Ain and Abu Dhabi.

For a Schengen visa, the Consulate General assigns the centre by home emirate, so watching the other city is wasted. AutoBooking takes up to ten applicants in Dubai, five in Abu Dhabi.

Short Stay, Business or a CSP category: booking Germany under the right one

The category on your subscription decides which Germany dates VisaBot reports to you.

Short Stay
Schengen visa for tourism or visiting family and friends. Dates go through the VFS waitlist.
Business Purpose
Schengen visa for job-related trips such as meetings, trade fairs and congresses. Also on the waitlist.
Student - CSP
National visa for study, applied for online in the Consular Services Portal first.
Opportunity card - CSP
National job-seeker visa (Chancenkarte), also applied for online in the Consular Services Portal first.
  • Booking Short Stay for a business trip, or the reverse: VFS Global refuses the submission on the day, and the service fee paid is lost.
  • Using a Schengen category for a stay over 90 days: study and job search need a national visa.
  • Booking a CSP slot with no online application yet: the visit is for originals and fingerprints.

Getting a Germany subscription right: centre, category, dates

  1. 1

    Centre for your emirate

For a Schengen visa, people living in Dubai or the Northern Emirates set Dubai; Al Ain and Abu Dhabi residents set Abu Dhabi.

  2. 2

Category exactly as VFS names it

Support can switch it on a live subscription if you picked the wrong one.

  3. 3

    Passport details in Latin letters

Each applicant's passport name, nationality, date of birth, passport number and its expiry, plus home address, phone and email.

  4. 4

    Date window on CSP categories

Student - CSP and Opportunity card - CSP let AutoBooking keep to your dates for an extra charge; Short Stay and Business cannot.

  5. 5

    Login codes go to VisaBot

Codes VFS Global sends at login land in VisaBot's system mailbox. Signing in yourself? Support passes the code on; it expires in 3–5 minutes.

Waitlist first, Consulate second: realistic Germany timing from the UAE

VFS Global offers new Short Stay and Business dates to its waitlist first, in the order people joined, and opens leftovers for booking once every waitlisted applicant has had an offer. From May to September, VFS warns, booking without the waitlist is unlikely, so start early for a summer trip.

Nobody, VisaBot included, knows in advance when VFS Global will release the next Germany dates. Releases are not daily, so expect some quiet days before the first alert; a subscription lasts 30 days and does not renew itself.

A booked date is not a visa. The Consulate General says a Schengen decision can take up to 15 days, and EU rules allow up to 45; national visas for study or the Opportunity Card can take up to 12 weeks.

German Consulate rules that shape a booking in Dubai or Abu Dhabi

Main destination
Germany, if the longest part of your Schengen trip is there; with equal stays, the country of first entry.
Applying from the UAE
UAE residents who need a Schengen visa for their passport and hold a residence permit lasting three months beyond the requested visa.
Emirati citizens
Visa-free in Germany for short trips, up to 90 days within any 180.
Who decides
The German Consulate General in Dubai, for files from both centres; VFS Global collects and forwards them.
Residence for national visas
For a study or Opportunity Card visa, an Emirates ID that is six months old or more on the day you apply.
Fees
A visa fee in dirhams plus the VFS Global service fee; the Consulate General and VFS Global publish the amounts.

A Schengen application can be filed up to six months before travel and, under EU rules, no later than 15 days before it.

The parts of a Germany application VisaBot does not touch

  • VisaBot does not issue German visas or influence the Consulate General in Dubai.
  • VisaBot is not affiliated with VFS Global, BLS International, TLScontact, the German missions or any other government body.
  • VisaBot does not resell or hold Germany appointments; each is booked in the applicant’s name through VFS Global.
  • Your documents, the portal application, the visa form and the visit itself stay with you; VisaBot handles none of them.

VisaBot is a service of TREVOR PHILIPS LTD, a company registered in England and Wales under number 14986978.

Germany appointments at VFS in the UAE: questions people ask

Which VFS centre do I use for a Germany visa: Dubai or Abu Dhabi?

Use the centre that covers your home emirate. For a Schengen visa, anyone living in Dubai or the Northern Emirates applies at VFS Global in Dubai, while people in Al Ain or Abu Dhabi use the Abu Dhabi centre. Both centres offer the same four Germany categories, and the Consulate General in Dubai decides on every file.

Which category should I book for a Germany visa appointment in the UAE?

Book the category that matches the visa: Short Stay for tourism or family visits, Business Purpose for job-related trips, Student - CSP for study and Opportunity card - CSP for job seeking. VFS Global refuses a submission under the wrong category and keeps the service fee, so check first; support can switch the category on a subscription.

VFS shows no Germany appointments in Dubai. What can I do?

On Short Stay and Business an empty calendar is normal: VFS Global offers new dates to its free waitlist first and lists leftovers afterwards. VisaBot supports waitlist routes in Notifications and AutoBooking and checks your category throughout a 30-day subscription, but no service can create dates VFS Global has not released.

Can VisaBot book Germany appointments for my whole family?

Yes. One AutoBooking subscription books up to ten applicants at the Dubai centre or five in Abu Dhabi, each in their own name, with a prepayment per person at sign-up and the balance after booking. One Notifications subscription covers the whole application; the price breakdown in the app shows the total.

How is VisaBot different from checking the VFS Germany site myself?

VisaBot checks around the clock for your centre and Germany category and pushes an alert when a date shows; AutoBooking also books it. The bot sees the same VFS Global calendar as everyone else, so you gain reaction time and fewer missed chances, not hidden appointments.

Can AutoBooking pick dates for a Germany student visa appointment?

Yes, on Student - CSP and Opportunity card - CSP, where you can limit AutoBooking to dates that suit you, at extra cost. Short Stay and Business Purpose go through the VFS Global waitlist, so AutoBooking takes the date offered, with no window and no swap later. Start those two once your documents and leave are sorted.

Do spouses of German or EU citizens need an appointment in Dubai?

No. According to the German missions in the UAE, a UAE resident married to a German or EU citizen, or the parent of a German or EU child who is a minor, can hand in the application at a VFS Global centre without booking.

How much does VisaBot cost for a Germany appointment in the UAE?

Notifications cost from 200AED a month, and one subscription covers every applicant on it. AutoBooking costs from 500AED per applicant; the final amount depends on the visa centre's fee.
