Malta visa appointment in Türkiye: nine VFS Global centres

A traveller smiling at a phone in the city

VisaBot is independent of VFS Global and of Malta's embassy and consulate in Türkiye; whether a Malta visa is granted is the consulate's call.

Ankara, Antalya, Bursa, Edirne, Gaziantep, Istanbul (Beyoğlu), Istanbul Altunizade, Izmir and Trabzon: a Malta visa appointment can be booked at any of these VFS Global centres in Türkiye. VisaBot sends a push alert when a date opens at the centre and category you pick; the booking itself happens in your own VFS account. The visa decision rests with the Consulate General of Malta in Istanbul.

Six Malta categories in the VisaBot form for Türkiye and when each fits

Alerts follow the category you choose, so match it to your trip and your VFS checklist.

Tourist
Holidays and sightseeing trips to Malta.
Business
Meetings or contract signing; VFS notes this visa does not allow professional activity in Malta.
Family and Friends visit
Visiting relatives or friends in Malta; VFS calls this type Visiting Family And Friends.
Family members of EU/EEA
Spouse, registered partner, child under 21, dependant or dependent parent of an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen using free movement.
Sports and Cultural
A sports, cultural or scientific event in Malta, with evidence that you fall under this category.
Student
Courses, internships and summer schools; a course over 90 days needs a national D visa, not a short-stay one.
  • Booking Tourist for an English course: VFS files courses and summer schools under Student.
  • Choosing Family members of EU/EEA as the spouse of a Maltese citizen living in Malta: VFS notes that a Maltese citizen not exercising EU treaty rights holds no residence right under the directive.
  • Erasmus Internship or Transit: VFS lists both types, the VisaBot form does not, so ask support first.

Setting up Malta alerts around the VFS 30-day ticket rule

  1. 1

Count back 30 days from departure

VFS requires direct round-trip tickets to Malta dated at least 30 days after the application date, so book 30 or more days before departure.

  2. 2

    Pick the right Istanbul centre

The VisaBot form lists two Istanbul choices for Malta: Istanbul, the Beyoğlu centre on the European side, and Istanbul Altunizade in Üsküdar.

  3. 3

    One subscription for the group

One Notifications subscription covers everyone on the same application, so a family trip needs a single subscription.

  4. 4

Open a VFS Global account early

You book yourself, so create a VFS Global Malta account and keep the login ready.

  5. 5

    Mind the 30-day subscription

A subscription lasts 30 days and does not renew by itself; you decide whether to start another.

How long a Malta booking takes, and why the flight date sets the limit

No one, VisaBot included, can promise when VFS Global will release new Malta dates; the first alert may take several days.

A VFS notice from July 2026 asks applicants in Türkiye for direct round-trip flight tickets dated at least 30 days after the application date, so an appointment closer to departure than 30 days does not fit those tickets.

Time to an appointment is not time to a visa: the Consulate General of Malta in Istanbul normally decides within 15 days, extendable to 45. Schengen rules allow applying from six months to 15 days ahead, but the VFS ticket rule makes 30 days the working limit for Malta.

Applying to Malta from Türkiye: the rules to check before you book

Main destination
Malta is your sole Schengen destination, your longest stay, or your first stop when stays are equal.
Who applies from Türkiye
Turkish citizens with ordinary passports, and foreign residents of Türkiye who need a visa; Turkish diplomatic, service and special passports are exempt.
Where to apply
Any of the nine VFS Global centres, with no regional restriction; the passport is collected at the same centre.
Who decides
The Consulate General of Malta in Istanbul; VFS Global collects files and has no say in the outcome.
When to apply
From six months ahead; VFS wants direct return flights dated 30 or more days after applying, so 30 days before departure is the limit.
Visa fee
The visa fee and the VFS Global service fee are paid in cash, in euros; the amounts are on the VFS Malta fees tab.

Under certain conditions, family members of EU, EEA or Swiss citizens using free-movement rights qualify for a visa-fee waiver and an accelerated procedure.

The consulate's services page says that communication with its visa section is strictly in writing.

Things VisaBot will not do for your Malta visa

  • VisaBot does not book Malta appointments: it sends alerts, and you book in your VFS account.
  • VisaBot does not check documents, fill in the application form or follow your file after the appointment.
  • VisaBot does not resell or hold appointments; every booking is in the applicant's name through VFS Global.
  • VisaBot cannot make VFS release dates and has no influence on the consulate or its decision.

VisaBot is operated by TREVOR PHILIPS LTD, England and Wales, company number 14986978, and is not affiliated with VFS Global, embassies or consulates.

Malta visa appointments at VFS in Türkiye: applicants ask

Which VFS centre in Turkey should I use for a Malta visa?

Any of the nine VFS Global centres in Türkiye takes Malta short-stay applications, as VFS sets no regional restriction. The passport returns to the centre where you applied unless you pay for courier delivery. Istanbul has two: Beyoğlu, listed in VisaBot as Istanbul, and Altunizade in Üsküdar.

Should I book Tourist or Student for a Malta language course?

Book Student: VFS files courses, internships and summer schools under that type. A course of up to 90 days gets a Schengen short-stay visa; a longer one needs a national D visa, applied for through a separate VFS long-stay service that the VisaBot categories do not cover. If you picked the wrong category, support can switch it.

VFS Turkey has no Malta dates: is it worth waiting for new ones?

Keep watching. VFS Global releases new and cancelled Malta dates without a fixed pattern, so an empty calendar today says little about tomorrow. VisaBot scans your centre and category and sends a push alert when a date appears. VisaBot cannot create a date that VFS has not released.

Do I need a separate Malta alert for each family member?

No. One Notifications subscription covers every traveller on the same application, so a family going to Malta sets up a single alert. You then book each traveller's appointment on VFS yourself, so check that the date has enough places for everyone.

What does VisaBot do that checking VFS Malta by hand does not?

VisaBot checks the calendar of your Malta centre and category without breaks and sends a push alert as soon as a date appears, even while you sleep or work. Checking by hand depends on lucky timing, since new dates appear without a known pattern and go quickly.

How early should I book a Malta visa appointment from Turkey?

Book as soon as your flights are fixed, with the appointment at least 30 days before departure. Schengen rules allow applying up to six months ahead, but VFS asks for direct return flights dated at least 30 days after the application date. The consulate then normally decides within 15 days.

How much do VisaBot alerts for Malta cost?

Notifications cost from ₺1000 a month, and one subscription covers every applicant on it.
