Netherlands visa appointment in Ireland: VFS Global Dublin

Download on the App StoreGet it on Google Play
A traveller smiling at a phone in the city

VisaBot is an independent service, unconnected to VFS Global, the Embassy of the Netherlands in Dublin or any government; granting or refusing a visa rests with the Dutch authorities.

Netherlands Schengen visa applications from Ireland go to a single VFS Global centre in Dublin, open to people who live in Ireland. VisaBot watches that calendar for your visa category: Notifications flags a new date, and AutoBooking can book it under each applicant's own name. Approval or refusal of the visa rests with the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“No Slots Available” in Dublin: how VisaBot keeps watch

When the Dublin calendar is empty, VFS Global points applicants to a free online waitlist. VisaBot runs Notifications and AutoBooking on all four Dublin categories, including where VFS uses its waitlist.

  1. 1

    One category, one calendar

Pick the category that matches your main reason for travel; VisaBot then checks that Dublin calendar continuously in your place.

  2. 2

    Notifications: the booking is yours

VisaBot reports new Netherlands dates in Dublin by push alert, with e-mail as an option, and you make the booking on the VFS Global site.

  3. 3

    AutoBooking: up to five applicants

The bot books through VFS Global's official system for up to five people, each under their own passport details.

  4. 4

Dates come as VFS releases them

AutoBooking in Dublin takes no preferred dates and cannot exchange a date once booked, so subscribe when everyone can attend at short notice.

VisaBot cannot create Netherlands dates in Dublin, jump the VFS waitlist queue for anyone or influence the visa decision.

One Netherlands centre for all residents of Ireland: VFS Global in Dublin

NetherlandsWorldwide sends residents of Ireland to VFS Global in Dublin. Each applicant normally attends in person, children included.

Dublin — VFS Global

Cunningham House, 130 Francis Street, Dublin 8, D08 H48R. Every Netherlands appointment VisaBot books in Ireland is here; applicants hand in their files and passports and give fingerprints.

Each applicant has their own Dublin appointment, and a missed one can be rebooked no sooner than 24 hours after its time.

Tourist, Business, Family or Others: choosing the Dublin category

VisaBot follows one category per subscription, named as in the VFS booking system. A wrong category gets the application turned away and the VFS service fee lost.

Tourist
Holidays and sightseeing, with tourism as the main reason for the trip.
Business Visa
Business and official visits, such as meetings with Dutch companies or organisations.
Family And Friends Visit/EU
Visits to relatives or friends; the /EU in the name points to trips with or to an EU, EEA or Swiss family member.
Others (Except Tourism, Business, Conference, Study, Trade Fair…)
For purposes the full name does not exclude, for example medical treatment or travel as a seafarer or driver.
  • Booking Others for a holiday: VFS Global in Dublin does not accept tourism applications made under Others.
  • Using Others for a conference, trade fair, study trip or self-enrolled course, purposes its full name rules out.
  • Leaving out EU family ties: say so when booking, as NetherlandsWorldwide asks, to use free visa facilitation.

Five settings that decide whether a Dublin booking works

  1. 1

Names exactly as in each passport

VFS Global booking details cannot be edited later, and Dublin refuses entry if they differ, so enter every passport exactly as printed.

  2. 2

    Everyone travelling, up to five

List every traveller: one Notifications plan serves the whole group, and AutoBooking for Dublin books up to five applicants, each charged separately.

  3. 3

No photo, selfie or face scan

AutoBooking for Dublin needs no passport photo, selfie or live face check; VFS Global takes the photo and fingerprints at the centre.

  4. 4

Codes go to VisaBot, not you

One-time VFS codes reach VisaBot's system mailbox; to sign in to VFS yourself, ask support for the code, valid for 3–5 minutes.

  5. 5

Two payments and a 48-hour link

A prepayment per applicant at sign-up pays the centre's booking fee; after booking, the rest is paid through a link within 48 hours, or the appointment is cancelled.

How long a Dublin date can take, and the wait after it

Netherlands dates in Dublin appear at random times, VFS Global says, and VisaBot has found no pattern that predicts them. Quiet days are normal, and AutoBooking needs one release with places for everyone, so families can wait longer than solo travellers.

On the VFS waitlist, nothing is sent until an appointment is offered, offers follow the order of sign-up, and the booking link expires after the time stated in the e-mail.

A Dublin appointment closes the first of two waits. NetherlandsWorldwide puts the average visa decision at 25 calendar days, up to 45 in peak periods or when extra checks or documents are needed. Applications open six months before travel (nine for seafarers) and close 15 days before departure.

NetherlandsWorldwide does not accept a scarce Dublin calendar as a reason to apply outside Ireland.

Netherlands rules to check before booking in Dublin

Irish passport holders
No visa needed for the Netherlands, so no Dublin appointment either.
Irish Residence Permit
An IRP does not lift the Schengen visa requirement, since Ireland is not in Schengen; living in Ireland remains the condition for applying in Dublin.
Main destination
Your main travel purpose must be in the Netherlands; if several countries share one purpose, the longest stay counts, or the first arrival if stays are equal.
EU family members
Family of EU, EEA or Swiss citizens travelling with or to them may get free visa facilitation; some EU-family residence card holders need no visa.
Fees
A Dutch visa fee plus the VFS Global service fee, usually due even when the visa fee is waived; official pages list the amounts.
Who decides
The Consular Services Organization of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs; neither VFS Global nor VisaBot has a say.

Stays over 90 days may need an MVV sticker instead, requested at the Dutch embassy in Dublin when the IND decision letter says so.

Under an April 2026 VFS Global notice, Dublin does not accept Russian nationals' applications for tourism, visits to friends or visits to relatives beyond the second degree.

Where VisaBot's job ends on the Dublin route

  • VisaBot does not fill in the Schengen form, check documents or attend the Dublin appointment.
  • VisaBot does not sell, hold or pass on appointments: each one is made under the applicant's own name in VFS Global's system.
  • No Dublin date is promised before your trip, and a VisaBot booking has no bearing on the visa decision.

TREVOR PHILIPS LTD (Companies House no. 14986978, England and Wales) runs VisaBot as an independent service with no affiliation to VFS Global, the Dutch embassy, consulates or government bodies.

Dublin appointments for the Netherlands: questions people ask

Which city in Ireland handles Netherlands visa appointments?

Dublin. NetherlandsWorldwide sends residents of Ireland to the VFS Global centre at Cunningham House, 130 Francis Street; Cork, Galway and Limerick have no Netherlands centre. The Dutch embassy on Claremont Road does not take short-stay Schengen applications: it handles MVV stickers and Dutch citizens' services.

Which category do I book for a Netherlands visa in Dublin?

Choose by your main purpose, because VFS Global in Dublin checks the category on the day: Tourist for holidays, Business Visa for business or official visits, Family And Friends Visit/EU for relatives, friends or an EU, EEA or Swiss family member. Others is for purposes its full name does not rule out, not tourism. A wrong category costs the appointment and the VFS fee; support can move your subscription to another category.

What if VFS Dublin has no Netherlands visa appointments?

Sign up for VFS Global's free waitlist, as VFS advises when Dublin shows “No Slots Available”, or leave it to VisaBot for 30 days: Notifications alerts you, AutoBooking books under your name, and both work where VFS runs a waitlist. Applying through another Schengen country does not help when your main purpose lies in the Netherlands: such applications are rejected.

Can VisaBot book Dublin appointments for my partner and children too?

Yes: one AutoBooking subscription covers up to five applicants, children included, each paid for separately; one Notifications plan covers the whole application. Each child gets their own appointment and normally attends in Dublin, and the bot books the first release with places for all of you.

Why use VisaBot instead of checking the VFS Dublin page myself?

VisaBot makes sense if you cannot keep checking: VFS Global releases Dublin dates at random times, and the bot watches continuously. Notifications alerts you and leaves the booking on the VFS Global site to you; AutoBooking books in each applicant's name even when you are offline. NetherlandsWorldwide advises booking yourself rather than through an intermediary, and Notifications keeps that step in your hands.

Do I need a Schengen visa for the Netherlands with an Irish Residence Permit?

Yes, if your nationality needs a Schengen visa: Ireland is outside the Schengen area, so an IRP does not replace one. Irish passport holders need no visa. Family members of EU, EEA or Swiss citizens may get free facilitation, and some holders of an EU-family residence card need no visa at all.

What does VisaBot cost for Netherlands appointments in Dublin?

Notifications cost from €35 a month, and one subscription covers every applicant on it. AutoBooking costs from €100 per applicant; the final amount depends on the visa centre's fee.
